Dear Prospective AFTA Partner,

Completion of this form will allow Arts for the Aging, Inc. (AFTA) to consider your community or residential care setting for AFTA’s therapeutic and participatory arts programming, and help us determine your eligibility for financial aid.

Celebrating 30 years in 2018, Arts for the Aging was founded after a study showed that art-making improved moods and behaviors in people with Alzheimer’s disease. Today, AFTA is a nationally-recognized social service organization serving Greater Washington D.C., engaging older adults and care partners in health improvement and life enhancement through regular participation in the arts.

AFTA’s therapeutic interventions focus especially on those experiencing aging-related physical and cognitive impairments, and can include trainings for practitioners in our structured improvisation methods. Workshops are customized from a curriculum of dance, music, visual art, art history, creative writing, storytelling, poetry, expressive arts, musical theatre, theatrical improvisation, museum outings and intergenerational workshops. An experienced artistic faculty is grounded in diverse specialties, trained in our best-practices, and paid to facilitate group workshops in community and residential care settings: adult day centers, community centers, senior centers, low-income housing centers, assisted living communities, nursing homes, and with museums and cultural institutions.

The self-expression and socialization AFTA ignites bring accessible and uplifting ways to cope with changing abilities that come with aging—sparking memory and imagination, spreading joy and combating isolation.

Thank you for your interest in Arts for the Aging, and for your service to older adults.

Sincerely,

Brandi Rose Program Director
